Spectator's Parking at Bloomington Gold Corvette Show
Thousands of Corvette owners gathered on this slightly overcast day in Champaign, IL to celebrate their hobby. This event is so much more than a car show -- it is a reunion of family and friends, who meet every year to share their love for this iconic Chevrolet.
Several 2015 Corvettes were on display – a Z06 Convertible; a Corvette, with the Atlantic Design Package, and one with the Pacific Design Package. There were also several historically significant cars in attendance, including a 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car and a 2011 Brickyard 400 Pace Car. But, perhaps the biggest star of the show was the L88 Rebel Corvette that sold at the 2014 Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale auction for $2,600,000.
Starting in 1973, this car show has the distinction of being the oldest continuous running Corvette show in the country. Judging for this event is not car against car, but is based on the car’s authenticity. The Corvette can be Gold Certified if it is judged to be preserved or restored to at least 95% of the way it left the factory. “The goal is to attain historic perfection, not cosmetic perfection.”
Here are just a few of the Corvettes. Photos provided by Al McKim, C5 Convertible owner.
