Cars as Far as You Can See
Spring is in the air, and it's not just because of the long-awaited warm temperatures. What better way to kick off the new season than a car show? But, not just any car show. Charlotte's Spring AutoFair, which is held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, is the biggest collector car event in the southeast. With 9,500 vendor spaces housing new and old parts for just about any make and model, over 1,600 vehicles for sale, thousands of cars for show, and a variety of special events planned during this four-day event, there's little doubt this the place to be in early April.
The Hornets Nest Region of the AACA, who produces this event, really knows how to put on a show. There is literally something for everyone -- rows and rows of colorful cars, a swap meet that is one of the largest in the country, a collector car auction, and an AACA car show. If you need a time-out from car gazing, check out the lawnmower races, stop by the petting zoo, or watch the pig races. Live musical entertainment is scheduled throughout the weekend, including a the "Ultimate Elvis Tribute." This tribute, which is in its second year at the AutoFair, has been very popular, and features Elvis impersonators vying for a cash prize, and the chance to go to Graceland to compete for $20,000. Then, on Sunday, vehicles will be chosen for the best of show.
As you can tell, there is much to see and do at the Charlotte AutoFair. Here's some of the highlights from Friday and Saturday. Sunday will wrap up the fun-filled event, with presentation of best of show awards. Click here for all the award winners.
