2016 Goodguys Nashville Nationals

The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association hosted its Annual Nashville Nationals in Nashville, TN, May 13-15. The first two days of this three-day event welcomed hot rods, customs, classics, trucks, street machines, and muscle cars through 1972 vintage, and on the last day, “Super Sunday”, all American-made and/or powered makes and models were welcome to join in the fun.
There were a variety of actvities at the Nashville Nationals, such as:
- The always-popular Autocross, where registered participants put their street rod, truck, or machine through its paces, and they got to try out their skills behind the wheel, as well. The winners from each category (rod, truck, and machine) were announced on Sunday.
- The Swap Meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, which offered scads of hard-to-find parts, automobilia for your man (or woman) cave, and a diverse selection of vehicles, both in ready-to-show, and ready-to-restore conditions.
- Competitors for the Hot Rod of the Year (1948 and earlier), which was awarded on Sunday, left the Nissan Stadium at 10 a.m. on Friday, taking a 100-mile road trip around Nashville. Anything that “made noise," was regularly street-driven, had a mean attitude, and screamed the words, "hot rod" fit right in. This trek included some interesting stops along the way, including a 1/8 mile drag strip run. After the participants returned to the Nissan Stadium on Friday, five finalists for Hot Rod of the Year were announced, with the winner being crowned on Sunday.
- “Navigatin’ to Nashville," from two origination points: Greenwood, IN to Nashville Nationals, and Kingsport, TN to Nashville Nationals, was held in conjunction with the Goodguys Nashville Nationals. This tour, which gave participants a chance to relax and “tool on down the road” with fellow gearheads, also included some interesting stopping places between their starting point and their destination (Nashville Nationals).
The 11th Nashville National had Cool Cars, Cool People, and Good Times. Here are some of sights.
