April 15, 2016 -- The state fairgrounds outside Raleigh, NC came alive with the sounds of straight pipe V8s, as classics and hot rods cruised into the complex. The first two days were open to 1972 and older classics, but on the final day (All-American Sunday), all-year domestics were welcomed to join in on the fun. As we walked the fairgrounds, we saw rows and rows of colorful vintage cars, some for show and others for sale, a swap meet, vendor and manufacturers exhibits, and a special display of race cars (remember, this is NASCAR country). All the while, regular blasts of revving motors could be heard throughout the grounds, as competitors maneuvered the cone-laden Autocross, racing for the lowest ETs. On Saturday night, fans were treated to a good ol' fashion demolition derby. It certainly was a bang-up good time and quite a contrast to the highly polished and pampered rides on the show field earlier in the day. On Sunday, special awards were given out to the top vehicles at the show.

Here are some of the sights and sounds we saw at this year's show.
These rides won the top awards at the Goodguys North Carolina Nationals in their respective classes, and became finalists for the Car (or Truck) of the Year awards that will be presented later in 2016.
