Although originality in classic cars remains important, restomods are a growing market segment in the hobby.  At this year’s Mecum Kissimmee auction, several high-end custom Builds were on the docket, most noticeably three special Corvettes built by Kindig-it Design.  From Kindig’s shop a 1962 and 1967 Vette were representative of ultimate restomoding.  The original body design was enhanced and an all-new drive train and modern technologies replaced factory equipment.   A third vehicle, a 1953 Corvette CF1 Roadster, is a complete ground-up Build, based on his inhouse Kindig-it design.

A 1963 Corvette custom Build was also for sale at Mecum.  This is a studio concept split window coupe designed and owned by Peter Brock, the person who first conceived the timeless design of the second-generation Corvette.

Tri-Five Chevys are always popular and the guys at Snodgrass Chevy Restoration had two beautiful convertible restomod Belairs at this year’s auction, a 1956 and a 1957.

Another high-end Build at the auction was a radically modified 1934 Ford Model A pickup.  This Build was a Great 8 finalist at the 2018 Detroit Autorama and multiple award winner on the show circuit.  Here is an interview with the owner when the car was at the Detroit Autorama.
