Goodguys Southeastern Nationals 2017
When the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association hosts a car show, you can always count on a weekend jam-packed with exciting activities, and of course, lots of cool cars. As expected, the 24th Annual Southeastern Nationals, held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, lived up to The Goodguys’ reputation for “Cool Cars, Cool People, Good Times.” Along with a swap meet and car corral, there was action on the autocross each day; the ever-popular “Cruising Under the Lights,” around the ½ mile speedway track, was a sight you had to see; and new to this year’s event, was a burnout contest. Goodguys held their awards ceremony to recognize the top vehicles on the final day of the show. Here are some of the highlights we saw during this fun-filled weekend.
Top Award Winners
Following are select winners of awards at the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals, including “Builder’s Choice” awards, winners chosen by Detroit Speed; special awards presented by Goodguys; and the selection of finalists in the Muscle Car of the Year and Late model Truck of the Year categories.

The fastest driver around the cones this weekend was Robby Unser, winner of the Pro Class in his 1967 Hot Wheels Camaro. See the other class winners in the slide show below, followed by a trip around the cones video with Robby in his Camaro.
Burnout Contest
The burnout contest came down to two cars, a 1969 Camaro and a 1932 Ford roadster. When the smoked cleared, the crowd chose the deuce roadster as the winner. Check out this video of the winning burnout.
