The Goodguys Nationals annual flagship event rumbled into town for three days of high octane fun at the Expo Center in Columbus, OH.   The show field was filled with an estimated 6,500 Rods, Customs, Classics, Muscle Cars, Imports and Trucks.  Keeping with the vintage guideline of 25 years or older, vehicles through 1999 were invited to join in this year’s show.

Highlights of the show included the awards for Street Rod of the Year and the Street Machine of the Year, selection of the winner of this year’s giveaway car, and a special display of  GTOs, commemorating this iconic car’s 60th anniversary.  This was one of the largest indoor displays of the legendary GTO ever, showcasing 80 examples from 1964-1974, as well as later models when the GTO was revived from 2004-2006.

Street Machine of the Year Winner

This year, there were 31 contenders for Street Machine of the Year. From the five finalists, chosen from the 31 contenders, a 1968 Dodge Charger, owned by Ed Ganzinotti of Houston, TX, was crowned Street Machine of the Year.

Street Rod of the Year Winner

This year, there were nine contenders for Street Rod of the Year. From the five finalists, chosen from the nine contenders, a 1934 Ford, owned by Bill and Cainya Paul of Bucyrus, KS, was crowned Street Rod of the Year.

Pro-Street Gang

If you love the sound of a V8, then a parade of Pro-Street cars may be music to your ears. Several times during the show, the Pro-Street gang fired up their monster motors and cruised through the fairgrounds just to add some good vibrations to the crowd. Here’s one of their runs.

Winner of This Year’s (2023/2024) Goodguys’ Giveaway Car

Seventeen contestants drew a key to start the engine on the 1932 Ford Five-Window Coupe. This year, the winning key was held by Riley Barricklow of Erie, PA.    His wife, Rachael and son, Brad joined in the celebration.   Congratulations to the Barricklow family!

Specialty Awards

Unveiling of Next Year’s (2024/2025) Goodguys’ Giveaway Car

Next year’s giveaway car is a 1987 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe. This is the latest model car Goodguys has ever gifted, but if age is used to define a classic, being 37 years old makes this bowtie a vintage ride. The car was built by Goolsby Customs.
