GAA Classic Cars Winter Auction 2025
Winter just doesn’t want to leave this year, but that didn’t keep classic car lovers from enjoying the hobby at the February edition of the GAA Classic Cars auction in Greensboro, NC. “The Palace,” a purpose-built venue, was filled with more than 700 vehicles, showcasing an outstanding selection of sport cars, muscle cars, boulevard cruisers, and classic trucks.
Highlighting this three-day event was a trio of 1st Generation Ford GTs, a charity auction of a 2022 Shelby GT500 that raised over a half million dollars to help North Carolina Helene victims, and an impressive lineup of 50s/early 60s droptop land yachts – just the thing to get ready for Summer wind-in-your hair driving.

Trio of First-Generation Ford GT Sale
Headliners of the auction were three different colored first-generation Ford GT’s (2006), all offered in one lot – but with a twist. Potential buyers were bidding on only one car, and the winning bidder got to choose whether he or she wanted the red, white, or silver one.
It caused quite a stir when the trio of GTs were rolled onto the auction block together. After some spirited bidding, the hammer fell at $515,000. Now the important question: which of the three GTs would the winning bidder choose? With the choice of the Mark IV Red GT, the remaining two GTs were supposed to return to the seller’s collection, but after the auction, the sale of the Tungsten Silver GT was negotiated at $500,000. Both of these GTs have low mileage, with odometer readings of less than 900.
2022 Shelby GT500 – Charity Sale
A fully loaded 2022 Shelby GT500, so new it had not even gone through dealer prep (less than 20 miles), was auctioned off for charity. George and Megan Shinn, longtime patrons of GAA Classic Cars, donated the Shelby, with proceeds from the sale going to Serve NC, an organization to Help Rebuild After Hurricane Helene. The total raised for the cause was $500,000 ($200,000 from the sale of the Shelby and an additional $300,000 from the auction audience).
