GAA Classic Cars Summer Auction 2026

GAA Classic Cars hosted their summer auction July 23 – 25 in Greensboro, NC. There were more than 700 collector vehicles on the docket, including an impressive array of muscle cars, including high-impact colored Mopars, Boss 429s, and the ultimate Chevelle – the 454 LS6. The below video provides a quick tour of some of the impressive vehicles that crossed the auction block at The Palace.
Bidding was strong, with only a small number of cars leaving the auction block unsold. Many of those were later sold post-auction by the “Deal Doctor”. Here are the top sales, as well as a look at more auction highlights. The GAA Classic Car Auction, a triannual event, continues to grow, attracting both quality vehicles and a steadily expanding base of serious buyers.

Pink Mopars and More
In the summer of 1970 Chrysler, as part of a “High Impact” color promotion, offered a special order FM3 pink color called “Panther Pink” on Dodge cars and “Moulin Rouge” on Plymouth cars. Because of their rarity, not to mention the unique color itself, these vehicles are highly valued in the hobby. Both the Cuda and Challenger in this auction were in the top ten sales, selling for $200,000 and $197,000 respectively.
Two other significant Mopar cars at this auction were a 1969 Dodge Daytona and a 1970 Challenger RT/SE Hemi. The Winged Warrior Daytona sold for $272,500 and the Challenger received a high bid of $175,000 (did not sell).
Boss 429s
This auction featured two 1969 Boss 429s – one Wimbledon White and one Black Jade. The Wimbledon White Mustang was bid to $630,000 but did not reach the set reserve, one of the few feature cars that did not sell. The one year only color Black Jade Boss, an unrestored survivor with only 11,500 miles, sold for $660,000. This was also one of the early production Boss 429s with the S-Code motor. S-Code engines have upgraded engine internals including solid lifters making 10-15hp more than the later 429’s in factory stock form.
2006 Ford GT
As one of the featured cars of the auction, this Mark IV red Ford GT topped all sales at $660,000. It was optioned with all four available premium items, Shelby-style racing stripes, forged BBS wheels, painted brake calipers, and an upgraded McIntosh sound system. Most significantly, however, was that it was virtually new with only 18 miles. It was definitely a blue chip investment.
1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6
In 1970 Chevrolet unleashed the legendary LS6 Chevelle, a one year only monster that elevated the 454 big block from an already stout 360 horsepower to a staggering 450 horsepower. It is considered by many enthusiasts to be the ultimate street machine. Although Chevrolet sold more than 72,000 big block Chevelles that year, a true LS6 car remains elusive, coveted, and is guaranteed to draw a crowd whenever one surfaces.
This triple black LS6 was sold at the GAA Classic Cars summer auction for an impressive $175,000, a number that underscores just how desirable these 1970 Chevelles have become.
