Winning the Detroit Autorama Ridler Award is the ultimate achievement for many in the custom car world.  In 2024, a Custom Corvette Coupe called “TwelveAir,” built by Kindig-It Design, took home this award.  Then, the very next week, it won the Legend Cup at the Chicago World of Wheels.  More recently, TwelveAir was on the showfield at the Triple Crown of Rodding, where it was crowned “Street Cruiser of the Year.”

And the year isn’t over yet.  No doubt, it will be the car to beat at the upcoming SEMA mega event showcasing the “Battle of the Builders.”  It’s really that good, and it will probably leave a legacy of being one of the best Builds to ever wow crowds on the show circuit.   It was 4 ½ years in the making with every panel hand-formed and every cosmetic and technical detail thoughtfully executed.  It’s powered by an LS-based V12 that is, itself, a work of art.

The inspiration for TwelveAir was the 1954 GM Motorama Show Car (Corvair), a fastback version of Chevy’s original sports car.  Like so many concept cars, this design never went into production.  Dave Kindig “wanted something that didn’t really exist, but also had a heritage.”
