Mike Brown of Marrow, OH designed and built this Belly Tank Speed Racer in his garage. The car’s body is a replica of drop fuel tanks used on World War II airplanes. The aerodynamic shape made these discarded miliary surplus parts the body of choice of land speed racers in the ’50s and beyond. Mike not only pays tribute to these pioneer dare devils with his car, but also pilots the racer to record-setting runs. We talked to Mike at the 2024 Hilton Head Car Club Showcase where he told us about the racer and his 200 MPH+ runs.
